International MSc in Earth System Dynamics and Evolution
The two-year program will provide training in Earth system science and science diplomacy, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary research. Students will learn about the diverse data sources representing Earth and life through geological time, alongside strong competencies in modelling and statistics, research design, and project management. The program also raises awareness to the social and geopolitical dimensions of science, and includes explicit training in science policy and diplomacy. Students interested in different aspects of the atmosphere, biosphere, geosphere, or hydrosphere can choose from a wide range of elective courses to match their interests. Available courses include opportunities to pursue lab and fieldwork.
The program is funded by the Elite Network of Bavaria (ENB) and is a collaboration between Friedrich-Alexander University of Erlangen-Nuremberg (FAU), where the program is based, and the University of Bayreuth (UBT). Funds are available for students to join field trips, attend conferences, and learn German. There are no tuition fees for students beginning this winter semester from anywhere in the world. The application deadline is July 15.
